Lychakiv cemetery is not the ordinary one; it is great and famous Lviv Necropolis – a large cemetery that belongs to an ancient city. Lychakiv cemetery combines mysticism and divinity, romance and gothic, harmony and sorrow silence. This cemetery is also known as Cemetery Memorial, Cemetery Museum. Lychakiv cemetery is the oldest and the biggest one all around Europe.
The area of almost 40 hectares counts near 3 thousand of graves. There were buried a lot of outstanding people, such as Ivan Franko, Solomiya Krushelnytska, Markian Shashkevych, Volodimir Ivasjuk, Ivan Trush, Irina Wilde, Stanislav Lyudkevych, Mary Konopnicka, Gabriella Zapolska, Karol Shaynoha, Kos Anatolsky and others. Also you will have an opportunity to see several military memorials. You will be impressed by sacral sculptures, magnificent tombs and ancient family chapels.
